Early Times Report DODA, Dec 21: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir, Branch on Thursday organized a unique sensitization program for Sarpanches and Panchayat secretaries in district Doda. Led by the Standard Promotion Officer (SPO), the workshop focused on highlighting the parameters essential for product safety and quality. The experts delved into detailed information about ISI, ISO, Hallmark, and eco-friendly marks during the workshop. The program, attended by ACP Ashfaq Khanji, BDOs, Sarpanches, Panchayat Secretaries, and local residents, featured an overview of BIS's functioning by the assistant director. He stressed the importance of opting for ISI marked products for the overall well-being of the people, explaining that BIS grants licenses to factories adhering to set standards. The Assistant Director also provided information on gold hallmarking and demonstrated the BIS Care App, encouraging attendees to download it from the Google Play Store. During the workshop, the BIS Resource Person emphasized reaching out to people at the Panchayat level, making them aware of standardization, and promoting the use of ISI marked products in tenders floated by the rural development department. BIS, as the National Standards Body of India, is on a mission to create awareness and promote compliance with Indian standards at the grassroots level. The initiative aims to instil an understanding of adhering to Indian standards among Gram Panchayats, ensuring compliance in implementing government programs and schemes at the village level. With outreach efforts covering approximately 2.4 Lakh Gram Panchayats nationwide, BIS is committed to fostering a quality-conscious India through these initiatives. |
