Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 30: The divyang artists of Samaj Kalyan Kendra's School (SKK) for Hearing Handicapped bagged the first prize in Folk Dance competition 2-day Purle Festival under VYOM 2023 J&K, concluded here last evening. Fourteen Deaf & Dumb students presented a Dogri Folk dance-'sone di pakhi aur loka kadhu chuk goriye'. It was choreographed by DPS's Dance teacher Dr. Shetal Karan Chalotra assisted by SKK School's teacher Neelam. The Deaf & Dumb students and choreographers had worked hard for fifteen days to produce a superb folk dance on music which the artists were unable to listen to due to their physical disability. The artists were Garima Misri, Fozia Shamash, Sonam Chib, Ananya Thappa, Nakitta Devi, Anu Sharma, Mannat Jangral, Rohan Singh, Manav Kumar, Sunny Khanna, Mohd, Ubair Jarral, Rahul Bhandral, Tanveer Arshad Qureshi, and Nishant Kumar. The school's divyang students have presented four items, myme, skit, craft & folk dance. In all, 35 students have participated in the first ever festival, organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Social Welfare Department of J&K. The President of the SKK, well-known NGO of J&K, K B Jandial and the members of Governing body have congratulated the students and the teachers who trained these Divyang students for splendid performance and winning first prize in Folk Dance category. |
