Early Times Report VIJAYPUR, Dec 30: In a proactive move against the rising tide of cybercrime, the Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) in Vijaypur organized a compelling lecture on "Online Financial Frauds" for its personnel and trainees. The lecture, delivered by Prof. Vinod Sharma from the MCA Department of Jammu University, shed light on various online scams, including OTP fraud, remote access mobile app fraud, UPI fraud, refund fraud, OLX fraud using digital documents, fake SMS fraud, SIM swap fraud, QR code scam, and more. During the lecture, Prof. Vinod Sharma emphasized the critical need for a comprehensive understanding of the diverse tactics employed by cyber scammers. He provided valuable insights into the modus operandi of these online frauds and underscored the significance of implementing security measures to thwart such threats. In particular, he cautioned against sharing sensitive information such as OTPs, bank details, and passwords on mobile devices. Speaking on the occasion, Shiv Kumar, IPS, SSP, and Principal of PTTI Vijaypur, highlighted the importance of such lectures in equipping police personnel with the knowledge needed to combat cybercrime effectively. He stressed the need for vigilance and outlined preventative measures to safeguard against online financial frauds. Expressing gratitude, Principal PTTI Vijaypur thanked Prof. Vinod Sharma for dedicating his time to enlighten the staff and trainees of the institute. The initiative aims to keep law enforcement personnel informed about the evolving tactics of cyber scammers and to empower them with the tools to prevent and address online financial fraud.
