Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 3: In an engaging session with senior members of the media, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai, shared insights into the university's ongoing initiatives, achievements, and ambitious plans for the future. Accompanied by key university officials, Prof. Rai outlined the commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and holistic student development.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude for the support provided by both Print and Electronic Media, recognizing their role in promoting the university's activities. Prof. Rai highlighted that the university is actively organizing various capacity development programs for faculty, backed by significant financial support from the UT Jammu & Kashmir Government.
Notable among the upcoming endeavors is the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, for which an additional Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned. Prof. Rai announced specialized training for the faculty of the 'Design Your Degree' program. Emphasizing the importance of infrastructure development, he unveiled plans for a prestigious innovation tower, a spacious parking facility, and a state-of-the-art main gate reflecting Dogra culture.
The University of Jammu is set to make history by offering full-fledged Masters degrees in English and Commerce through online mode, making it the first varsity in the UT to do so. In a bid to promote women's empowerment through science and technology, the university will host a Women's JK Science Congress in February.
Prof. Rai also unveiled plans for a 3-day mega festival named "Goonj," where institutions from across UT J&K and affiliated colleges of JU will showcase their best practices. The festival will feature displays of dance, music, and sports.
In a unique initiative titled "Bajargon ke Baat Yuvawo ke Sath," the university aims to bridge the generation gap by facilitating interactions between youth and elders. Through this program, elders will share their life experiences with the youth, fostering meaningful conversations. The exchange will be documented, culminating in the creation of a documentary capturing these valuable intergenerational dialogues.
The University of Jammu's commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement sets the stage for an exciting and transformative future.
