UGC team inspects girls hostel at GDC Paloura, urges swift completion

JAMMU, Jan 6: In a significant development today, the University Grants Commission (UGC) team conducted a thorough inspection of the Girls Hostel at Government Degree College Paloura (Mishriwala), a project constructed under the Prime Minister Development Scheme (PMDP). Led by Dr. Dinesh Chand, Education Officer, UGC, the team included Prof. Anurag Mishra from IIT Jammu as an External Technical Expert and Er. Rajeev Kumar, Asst. Executive Engineer, UGC, University of Jammu. Dr. S.P Sarswat, Nodal Principal, Jammu Division Colleges, and Principal GCW Parade, Jammu, along with Er. Raman Sumberia Sr. Manager and Er. Deep Raina Asst. Manager JK Housing Board, were also present during the inspection.
The UGC team was warmly received by Dr. Ashu Vashisht, the Principal of Govt. Degree College Paloura, upon their arrival. The NCC Cadets presented a "Guard of Honour" to honor the distinguished guests. The focal point of the visit was the examination of the college's Girls Hostel.
During the inspection, the team issued on-the-spot instructions and directions to the members of the JK Housing Board. Dr. S.P Sarswat, Nodal Principal, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made so far but emphasized the need for the remaining work to be expedited. The UGC team urged the JK Housing Board to complete the pending construction within the next ten days to ensure the swift functionality of the hostel.
Prof. Vijay Kumar, Senior Faculty, and Convener College Development Committee were also present during the inspection, providing insights into the ongoing development. The collaborative effort between UGC, IIT Jammu, and local authorities underscores the commitment to providing enhanced infrastructure for educational facilities in the region.
The UGC team's visit marks a crucial step towards ensuring the timely completion of the Girls Hostel, ultimately benefiting the students of Government Degree College Paloura and reflecting the success of the Prime Minister Development Scheme.
