1/7/2024 10:25:38 AM

Jammu, January 6: Teaching staff of the School Education Department of Jammu province has expressed anger over the “illogical” decision of the authorities to extend winter vacations in the schools of summer zones.
Instead of allowing all educational institutions to remain closed due to the harsh winter, authorities on Saturday issued an order in which it is clearly mentioned that winter vacations have been extended but the teachers have been asked to join the school and take online classes.
According to an order issued by the Directorate of School Education, in view of the cold weather conditions, the winter vacations of government and private schools functioning in the summer zones of Jammu Division, ordered by office vide order No.1354-DSEJ of 2023 dated: 18-12- 2023 is further extended till 12-01-2024.
However, all the teaching staff shall resume their duties w .e.f. 0
>Teachers have to resume their duties without students

> Allow us to take online classes till students rejoin.

> Schools in rural and far-flung areas face network issues.
-01- 2024 and HOJs shall ensure classes for classes 10th to 12th through online mode during the extended vacation period.

Any laxity in this regard from any Government/Private School shall be viewed seriously and dealt with under the rules.

Talking to the Early Times, teachers expressed their anger over the illogical decisions of the higher-ups of the School Education. The teaching staff said that instead of directing them to resume their duties without students they should be allowed to take online classes from their homes.

Teaching staff further said that most of the schools in the rural and far-flung areas are ready confronting with poor network issues so it is better to allow teachers to take online classes from their homes.

Important to mention here that winter vacations have already been extended till January 6 keeping in view harsh weather conditions.
