Red Cross Home for Handicapped celebrates Lohri Festival

Jammu, Jan 13: Red Cross Home for Handicaped Udhewala, celebrated Lohri Festival with Handicapped children, teachers & other staff of the home. This function is being celebrated every year with great fervor and as a result of special efforts taken by Sh PC Kapoor, it’s President. It aims at encouraging a better understanding about people affected by disabled children, learning about their true abilities, and being aware of their rights, dignity & welfare. Most of the inmates are deaf and dumb, they presented colorful programme at par excellence. Unfortunately, India is far behind in providing various comfortable facilities for the disabled.
Mr Rajat Gupta, a Social Activist, Chairman Unique Outsourcing & Main donor of the home was chief Guest on the occasion, Prof Lalit Mangotra President Jammu Dogri Sanstha presided over and S/Sh Rajinder Gupta Chairman Tagore college &Dr Shreyansh Kumar Jain State yoga Commissioner & State Chairman Indian Yoga Association were Guests of honor. Prof Lalit Mangotra President Dogri Sanstha threw light on the importance of the celebration of Lohri Function. Dr Jain felicitated S/Sh Rajat, Rajinder, Mangotra & especially Mr Satish, 1st inmate of the home & President Awardee.
Dr Jain appealed to the participants to provide children with disabilities with a loving environment. Dr.Jain proposed celebration of children birthdays by Mission Happiness. Children who are shown warmth & love grow up to be loving, warm persons. A child with a disability who is shown warmth and love grew up to be an adult with improved health. He also requested to celebrate Birthdays/Anniversaries among the disabled inmates and give them more time to make transitions & follow directions. Many activities & tasks can be taught for some children with disabilities. You need to keep patience to understand when they are in trouble.
Representatives from Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, Sarv Uthan Trust, Vichar Kranti Manch International, Confederation of Voluntary, social and Charitable Organisation, and others also participated.
Bonfire, on account of Lohri celebration, was lightened by Sh Jai Lal Sharma State Gen Secy BYS.
Mrs Nirmal Vikram, a Dogri scholar, conducted the proceedings and presented a vote of thanks.
