Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 17: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah led a day-long Gujjar and Bakarwal Conference at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu, urging the community to unite with the NC to safeguard their land, job, and economic rights.
Organized by senior party leader Choudhary Muhammad Aslam, the conference addressed the socio-political and economic empowerment of the Gujjar and Bakarwal community as integral to NC's inclusive development policy. Haji Ali Mohd Sagar, General Secretary and former minister, Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Mian Altaf Ahmed, Rattan Lal Gupta, and other party leaders were present.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah emphasized unity, urging everyone to learn from past mistakes and move forward. He stressed that the challenges facing Jammu and Kashmir can only be overcome if every section of society joins forces with the NC to protect the unique identity of the region. Highlighting the importance of tribal rights over natural resources, he acknowledged the positive impact of NC's policies on tribal lives but emphasized the need for further efforts.
Omar Abdullah echoed the call for unity and emphasized the NC's peaceful, democratic battle for the interests of all people in Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the Gujjar and Bakarwal community to join forces, stating that the fight is for the existence, democratic rights, identity, and dignity of every individual in J&K. Omar cautioned voters to choose their representatives wisely, as each vote shapes their future and that of future generations.
Commending the organizers for the conference, Omar expressed anticipation for continued interactions with Gujjar and Bakarwal activists in the future. Party functionaries highlighted the challenges faced by the community since 2014, emphasizing the need for attention to their emancipation.
