Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 17: Fraudsters promising jobs to aspirants in foreign countries are on prowl in Jammu and Kashmir.
A youth, Rohit Kumar, from Chowki Choura Baswa in Akhnoor recently fell prey to a fraudulent job promise by Shabir Hussain from Kupani Mandi village in Poonch. Kumar while talking to Early Times said that he trusted Hussain’s assurances and handed over Rs 4 lakhs to him for a job in Saudi Arabia, only to be left empty-handed. “Both of Shabir Hussain’s phone numbers are now unreachable,” he said.
Kumar has reported the incident to the Akhnoor Police Station. Authorities are looking into the matter and efforts are on to apprehend Hussain.
He urged people with information about Shabir Hussain or similar experiences to come forward and assist in the police investigation.
In a similar incident in December last year from Darhal village in Jammu’s Rajouri district, a tragic turn unfolded when Adil Din lost his life to a heart attack.
An immigration agent, Manzoor Hussain, allegedly duped Din of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of arranging a visa for Kuwait. The family, now bereaved, handed over Rs 5 lakhs to Manzoor Hussain, who promised a visa but absconded to Saudi Arabia.
Despite telephonic assurances and delays, Manzoor Hussain eventually informed Din that nothing could be done regarding the visa.
The deceased, survived by his wife, two sons, and six daughters, was the sole breadwinner for the family. Having taken the amount on loan with hopes of earning abroad, Din’s family now seeks justice for the financial loss and the tragic loss of life.
SDPO Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Sharma while talking to Early Times, said, “We have received a complaint from the victim. We had sent a team to Poonch but he is absconding. Intial investigations have revealed that he is fraud and other fraud cases also stand registered against him.”
