Jammu, Jan 27: Republic Day was joyously celebrated at Rehan Basera Boria Basti Gorkh Nagar Bahu Fort in Jammu, where the management committee of Rehan Basera, in collaboration with various NGOs, organized a special function for the inmates of Shelter Home (Home for Urban Homeless). The ceremony included the hoisting of the national flag by Sham Lal Basson, former corporator, along with esteemed guests such as Retd Judge Sh. Subash Gupta Ji, Rakesh Gupta, Mona madam, Col. Mohan Lal, Vith Vaid, Umesh Sharma, Bahadur Lal, Veena Devi, and several others. Sham Lal Basson expressed his dedication to celebrating every festival with the residents of Rehan Basera, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and community spirit. Rehan Basera, managed by Jammu Municipal Corporation through NGO Jagriti Mahila Udyog Kendra, actively engages NGOs, prominent donors, and the general public in organizing various events. These include celebrations of birthdays, marriage anniversaries, and other occasions for the residents. Retd Judge Sh. Subash Gupta, addressing the media and the public, stressed the responsibility of every citizen to respect and support physically challenged individuals, inmates of shelter homes, and the elderly. He pledged legal assistance and urged the effective implementation of schemes meant for such individuals. Flag hoisting ceremonies took place at various locations, including Kalika Colony Chowk near the filtration plant, where Sham Lal Basson, along with school staff from Boy Middle School Gorkh Nagar and Girls Middle School Gorkh Nagar, unfurled the national flag. Additional ceremonies occurred at the main Chowk Gorkh Nagar, with Sh. Vaishno Kapoor, President Dogra Sabha Gorkh Nagar Bahu Fort, leading the proceedings. In a related event, Chief Justice Sh. Kapadia delivered a lecture on “Constitutional Ethics” at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, emphasizing the importance of Indians studying the constitution to understand citizens’ rights. Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Mohit Shah also attended the event, where Sh. Kapadia expressed gratitude for the unique opportunity India provides for individuals of diverse backgrounds to serve in the highest judicial positions. |
