Principal Dr. Romesh Gupta Unfurls National Flag, commemorates Republic Day at GDC Udhampur

Udhampur, Jan 26: GDC Udhampur celebrated the 75th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and pride as Principal Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, adorned in traditional Dogri Pagari, hoisted the National Flag at College Vaatika, the designated venue for the ceremony.
Chief Guest Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, in a patriotic moment, unfurled the National Flag, and the event continued with the entire teaching and non-teaching staff, along with NCC Cadets of 2JK Girls and Boys Battalion, and units of NCC Boys and Girls, singing the National Anthem in unison. Yuva Saathis of Yuva Soch, Yuva Bharat also joined the ceremony.
Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta addressed the gathering, emphasizing the themes of Republic Day 2024 - ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka’. He highlighted the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the visionary creators of the constitution, underscoring the democratic ethos.
Deliberating on the achievements of the nation and the college in the past year, Dr. Gupta congratulated the staff for their contributions to the college’s growth, efficient systems, infrastructure development, good NAAC grade, and students’ success. He praised the exemplary work done by Yuva Saathis against drugs and encouraged the continuation of the torch of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra @2047.
Dr. Jagjeet Singh, Staff Secretary of the college, stressed the importance of the constitution, expressing gratitude for having one of the world’s largest constitutions. He urged parents, teachers, and students to play their roles effectively in building a better society.
The celebration included a pledge-taking ceremony attended by all teaching and non-teaching staff. GDC Udhampur also facilitated the District Administration’s Republic Day celebration on the college grounds. In the official function, NSS Girls secured the first position in the March Past, NCC Boys SD Bn clinched the second position, and the YSYB team received certificates of appreciation in the Cultural segment.
The day concluded with refreshments for all participants, fostering a sense of pride and unity among the college community.
