Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 29: In a momentous election meeting held at the Press Club of Jammu, Maharajkar Singh, a founding member of the Everest Mountaineering Club, Rajouri, has been unanimously elected as the President of the District Mountaineering Association, Rajouri. The election saw the assembly of distinguished personalities dedicated to the spirit of adventure and mountaineering. President: Maharajkar Singh, a pioneer and founding member of the Everest Mountaineering Club, Rajouri. General Secretary: Prof. Haqeeqat Singh Ishar, a retired principal with extensive trekking experience in the Pir Panjal Himalaya. Vice President: Dr. Mandeep Singh, a renowned radiologist and founder member of the Mountaineering Association of J&K. Joint Secretary: Sanjay Sharma and Gurcharan Singh, both passionate trekkers. Treasurer: Gurcharan Singh, an avid trekker with a commitment to adventure pursuits. Nine members of the executive body were elected, including the accomplished sport climber Prerna Charak, along with Yogeshwar Singh, Mohit Singh, Ajit Singh, Malvinder Singh, Sanjay Sudan, Sachin Singh, Vivek Sharma, and Payal Sharma, all active trekkers from various villages of Rajouri district. Ram Khajuria, Sr. Vice President of the Mountaineering Association of J&K, served as the Returning Officer for the elections, ensuring a smooth and transparent process. Sushil Singh, Treasurer of the Association, observed the proceedings on behalf of the Mountaineering Association of J&K. Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary of the Mountaineering Association of J&K, Sonam Sidharth, General Secretary of District Mountaineering Association Jammu, and Shilpa Charak, an international sport climber, graced the occasion with their presence. Prof. Haqeeqat Singh Ishar, the newly elected General Secretary, expressed his enthusiasm for promoting adventure activities in the district. Addressing the members, he thanked them for their trust and outlined plans for organizing the district sport climbing championship in Jammu soon. Prof. Ishar emphasized the need for creating climbing infrastructure in Rajouri district and pledged to work towards involving more children in adventure activities to foster responsible citizenship. Ram Khajuria, the Returning Officer, expressed gratitude to the members for the successful conduct of the elections. He promised unwavering support from the Mountaineering Association of J&K for the promotion of adventure activities in Rajouri district.
