Emergency meeting of J&K teachers forum urges prompt conduct of DPC for promotions
2/4/2024 10:54:33 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 4: An urgent assembly of the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) took place today under the leadership of Ganesh Khajuria, Chairman of JKTF. The emergency meeting was prompted by the concerns raised by teacher aspirants seeking promotion as Masters, who sought the intervention of Ganesh Khajuria for the expeditious conduct of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC).
The primary focus of the meeting was an in-depth discussion on the prolonged delay in the organization of the DPC for teachers aspiring for promotion to the position of Masters. Attendees included Central, Provincial, District, and Zonal Presidents of Jammu and Kashmir, along with affected teachers within the promotion zone.
During the gathering, District and Zonal Presidents voiced their grievances and expressed serious apprehensions regarding the repeated postponement of the DPC by higher authorities. They emphasized the urgency of addressing the issue to safeguard the interests and seniority of teachers within the promotion zone.
Speakers articulated their discontent with recent directives mandating teachers to obtain genuineness certificates for degrees from various universities. They argued that this responsibility falls within the domain of the Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and not the teachers themselves.
In response to the concerns raised, Sh. Ganesh Khajuria assured the aggrieved teachers that the central leadership would vigorously present the DPC case to both the Directorates of Jammu and Kashmir Divisions within the next two days. He pledged to exert pressure for the DPC to be conducted by February 15, 2024. In the event of non-compliance, the JKTF would explore further actions, including the possibility of agitation.
Sh. Ganesh Khajuria urged unity among the teaching community for the resolution of this genuine cause and called for preparedness for decisive struggles. Members present expressed unanimous consent to participate in any form of struggle led by Sh. Ganesh Khajuria, displaying full faith in his leadership.
The senior leadership of the forum present at the meeting included S. Surat Singh Toofani, Darshan Sharma, Javed Ahmed Malik, and numerous others. The press and media wing of JKTF will continue to provide updates on the developments surrounding the DPC case and any subsequent actions taken by the forum.
