Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 5: As part of the series of activities to observe Road Safety Month, Government College for Women, Bhagwati Nagar, organized a documentary show under the guidance of the esteemed Principal, Dr. Meeru Abrol. Approximately 80 students actively participated in this awareness session, where they were enlightened about the significance and purpose behind celebrating Road Safety Month. Dr. Meeru Abrol, addressing the gathering, emphasized the crucial role of education and awareness campaigns in promoting safe driving behavior. She highlighted that such initiatives play a pivotal role in educating road users about the hazards of reckless driving and the importance of adhering to traffic rules. Dr. Abrol also commended the efforts of the members of the Road Safety Club, including Dr. Anju Bala, Prof. Pavanjeet Bali, Dr. Rekha Devi, Dr. Eisha Verma, and Dr. Poonam Kumari, for organizing a series of awareness events to mark Road Safety Month. Following the documentary showcase, Dr. Poonam Kumari, the Convenor of the Road Safety Club, delivered an insightful awareness lecture to the students. She emphasized that road safety can only be ensured when strict adherence to traffic rules is practiced, discouraging habits such as using mobile phones while walking or driving. Dr. Kumari also stressed the importance of adhering to prescribed speed limits in specific areas, in accordance with traffic regulations. The entire program was conducted under the diligent supervision of Dr. Poonam Kumari, showcasing the commitment of the college in promoting road safety awareness among its students.
