Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 5: Today, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)- Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO) organized an exposure visit for students from Class 9 to 12 of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 Jammu. The visit included M/s Sabas Foods India Pvt. Ltd. Birpur Bari Brahmana, M/s Dhoomravarna, M/s Saraswati Plastic (a BIS Certification Marks License Unit) and BIS Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office. Over 250 students actively participated in this exposure visit. The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with practical experience in the Quality Ecosystem of Product Manufacturing, emphasizing ISI Mark Certification to cultivate a sense of quality consciousness. Hitesh Yadav, Assistant Director of JKBO, outlined the program's objectives and provided an overview of BIS activities. He highlighted BIS's role in safeguarding consumer rights through standards and Conformity Assessment. BIS Conformity Assessment Schemes offer third-party assurance of product quality, safety, reliability, and sustainability to consumers. Sh. Hitesh encouraged students to make the most of this opportunity through active participation. Additionally, he briefed them about the goals of the standards club and upcoming competitions on Quality and Standards within each standard club. Later, Hitesh delivered a detailed presentation on Standards Formulation, Product Certification, Hallmarking, and the Compulsory Registration Scheme. He provided information about government-mandated ISI mark certification for various products, such as cement, household electrical goods, LPG cylinders, domestic LPG gas stoves, air-conditioners, structural steel, helmets for 2-wheelers, toys, footwear, compounded cattle feed, and more. Furthermore, he demonstrated the BIS Care App, enabling easy access to information on Indian Standards, the authenticity of ISI-marked products, Hallmarked jewelry, and the ability to register complaints. |
