| Bovine loaded truck falls into gorge, driver dies | | |

JAMMU, Feb 5: A truck driver and around 15 cattle were killed when a bovine-loaded truck plunged into a gorge from Shanoo Bridge near Manwal in the Jhajjar Kotli area near Manwal on the outskirts of the city. Police identified the deceased as Ehsan Choudhary of Ratthana,in Udhampur district. Ehsan died on the spot. Police here on Monday said the truck allegedly smuggling cattle to Kashmir fell into a gorge on Sunday. On receiving information, the police team rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
"The bovines were hidden with water bottles to dodge the police," they said.
Police said the injured cattle were rescued and shifted to the veterinary hospital for treatment. A case has been registered and an investigation has started, the police added. |
