Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 16: The Environmental Club and NSS unit of K.C. College of Education came together to organize a Plantation Drive within the college premises, aligning with the Project Work Activity "Plant and Own a Tree." Recognizing the manifold benefits of trees, including oxygen release, air purification, UV ray protection, food provision, soil erosion prevention, ecological balance maintenance, and mitigation of global warming effects, the initiative aimed to instill in teacher trainees the importance of environmental conservation. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of semester I, who actively engaged in various aspects of the plantation process. Beginning with the demarcation of the planting area with the assistance of college gardeners and other staff members, the students proceeded to dig the ground for plantation. Subsequently, both students and faculty members came together to plant fruit trees, contributing to the greenery and sustainability of the college environment. Dr. Sanjay Tickoo, the Principal of the college, commended the initiative spearheaded by Dr. Puja Sharma, Convenor of the Environmental Club, and Priya Gupta, NSS Programme Officer. Dr. Tickoo emphasized that tree plantation is not merely a commendable activity but an urgent necessity in today's world. He underscored the importance of such initiatives in fostering environmental consciousness among the college community and beyond.
