Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 16: In a bid to address the longstanding plight of athletes awaiting job opportunities, the Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena (UBT) has pledged to become their voice and advocate for their rights. State Chief Manish Sahni expressed dissatisfaction with the current sports policies, labeling them as mere lip service during a press conference at the Press Club, Jammu. Sahni highlighted the disparity between the promises made under initiatives like 'Khelo India' and 'Center of Excellence' and the ground reality, emphasizing the lack of adequate facilities and trainers for athletes in the region. He lamented the neglect faced by medal winners at national and international levels who have been waiting for government jobs for a decade. Under the banner of a newly formed 'Sports Cell,' Shiv Sena aims to address these issues by providing a platform for athletes and parents to voice their concerns and suggestions. They have provided contact information for complaints and assured confidentiality for complainants. Sahni urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to address a rally at MA Stadium in Jammu on February 20th, to intervene and prioritize the needs of athletes, potentially ending their prolonged wait for employment opportunities. |
