Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 16: The Jammu & Kashmir Co-ordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU) convened comprehensive meetings across various district headquarters in both regions of the J&K Union Territory, wholeheartedly endorsing the nationwide strike call issued by central trade unions, including AISGEC and KSM. During these meetings, Md Maqbool, President, Gurmeet Singh, General Secretary, Haji Gh. Md Sr. Vice President, and Surinder Kumar, Secretary of JKCCTU, strongly denounced the anti-worker, anti-people, and anti-farmer stance of the current central government. They criticized the government's push towards privatization of public resources and undertakings, which has led to job cuts, soaring prices of essential commodities, rampant unemployment, and amendments in labor laws favoring crony capitalism. The leaders of JKCCTU emphasized the urgent need for restoring the old pension schemes, regularizing all daily wagers, and setting a minimum wage of Rs. 26,000 per month. Additionally, they demanded the restoration of democratic and trade union rights, withdrawal of the Electricity Amendment Bill 2022, and assurance of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers.
