Akhnoor, Mar 1: The Research Skill and Innovation Hub at Government Degree College (GDC) Akhnoor, in conjunction with the Departments of Physics and Computer Application, organized a dynamic workshop on March 1st, 2024. This collaborative endeavor, conducted in partnership with the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Jammu Sub Centre, aimed to foster innovation and technological advancement among students and faculty. The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, symbolizing the auspicious beginning of the event. Dr. Romilla Malla Bhatt, Principal of GDC Akhnoor and Vice Chairman of IETE, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, setting the stage for an enriching exchange of knowledge and ideas. Shri Joy Ganjoo, Chairman of IETE, further emphasized the significance of the occasion. Honorary Secretary Dr. Vijay Sharma provided an insightful introduction to the program, laying the groundwork for the enlightening sessions ahead. Er. Sameer Sharma, AEE (PDD) J & K Govt. and Vice Chairman of IETE, shared the president’s message from IETE Headquarters, underscoring the importance of student engagement and innovation. The esteemed presence of Major Gen. S.K. Sharma AVSM (Retd), Member of the Governing Body at MIET (Autonomous) Jammu, added prestige to the event as the chief guest. Prof. Pawnesh Abrol, HOD of the Department at the University of Jammu, delivered a captivating lecture on Python, enriching participants with insights into this versatile programming language. Further enhancing the learning experience, Prof. Parveen Lehana, Former HOD of the Department of Electronics at the University of Jammu, conducted a technical workshop on IoT-based Smart System design. Students and faculty from GDC Akhnoor, as well as neighboring institutions including GDC Marh, GDC Khour, and GDC Paloura, actively participated in hands-on training sessions on ESP8266 wifi module and its real-world applications. Dr. Shammi Kumar, HOD of Physics, and Dr. Deep Kumar, HOD of Computer Applications, provided valuable feedback on the program, highlighting its efficacy in enhancing technical skills and fostering innovation. Dr. Radhika Khanna, Honorary Treasurer of IETE Jammu Sub Centre, expressed gratitude to all participants and contributors, concluding the event on a note of appreciation.
