Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 2: In a significant meeting with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Gaurav Gupta, Secretary of Jammu Club and former General Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, addressed critical issues concerning the growth and prosperity of the Jammu region.
Gupta lauded the remarkable progress witnessed under the visionary leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, highlighting transformative initiatives in industrial development, infrastructure, and the establishment of prestigious institutions like IIT and AIIMS.
However, Gupta raised concerns regarding hurdles faced by entrepreneurs in tourism projects due to unwarranted imposition of Change of Land Use (CLU) charges. He emphasized the need for adherence to principles of 'Ease of Doing Business' to ensure smooth implementation of tourism initiatives.
Additionally, Gupta highlighted the disparity in promoting tourism potential sites between Jammu and Kashmir regions on official social media handles of the J&K Tourism Department. He advocated for equal promotion of tourism sites across both regions to increase tourist footfall.
Furthermore, Gupta urged proactive measures in promoting winter tourism in the Jammu region, emphasizing areas like Doda, Bhadarwah, and Kishtwar with ideal conditions for winter sports. He proposed organizing competitions and establishing ski resorts to leverage the region's untapped potential.
Gupta also suggested hosting international-level summits in picturesque areas of Jammu Province to boost tourism and attract investments. He emphasized the importance of showcasing Jammu's rich cultural heritage and economic potential on an international platform.
Acknowledging ongoing projects like the Artificial Lake on River Tawi, Gupta expressed optimism about the bright future of Jammu and Kashmir under Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's leadership. He appreciated the Lieutenant Governor's patient hearing and assurance to address the raised issues diligently.
