Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 11: Continuing its mission to highlight the rich heritage and hidden gems of Jammu, Tawi Trekkers J&K, the pioneering trekking club of the region, organized a special day-long trek to Devi Pindian exclusively for girls. A group comprising 141 students from PS Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, embarked on this adventure under the guidance of Sanjeevani Bhardwaj, an executive member of the club, with oversight from Sonam Sidharth and Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary and President of the club, respectively. Accompanied by Shashi Kant, Suksham Verma, and Ananjan Raghav Khajuria for seamless coordination, the trekkers commenced their 10-kilometer journey from Kunia Nursery, located 2 kilometers from Panthal. Along the way, they were treated to breathtaking views of the majestic Trikuta hills and the scenic Jajjar rivulet, whose pristine waters originate from Devi Pindian. Upon reaching the shrine of Devi Pindian, the trekkers were captivated by the tranquil ambiance, believed to be the abode of Goddess Vaishno Devi for nine months of the year according to legend. Expressing their gratitude to Tawi Trekkers for the enriching experience, the participants highlighted the value of such initiatives in promoting adventure activities and heritage tourism in the region. It's worth noting that Tawi Trekkers has been consistently organizing one-day treks to various heritage sites and tourism spots in Jammu as part of its Short Trek Programme. Previous treks have included routes from Mohoregarh to Mansar, Dhergarh to Mansar, Bhuvnergarh to Mansar, and Kattal Battal to Aitham via Pahairh Devta, spanning over the last four years. Recently, in collaboration with the Tourism Department Jammu, the club organized a 12-kilometer trek from Sagoon to Purmandal, involving 100 girls. With another group of approximately 135 trekkers scheduled to embark on the Devi Pindian trek on 14th March, Tawi Trekkers continues its commitment to fostering adventure and exploration while promoting the rich cultural heritage of Jammu. |
