Jammu, Mar 29: The Director School Education Jammu on Friday asked the private schools to follow the rules mentioned in J&K School Education Act 2002. A circular issued by the DSEJ, a copy of which is with Early Times, reads: “With the commencement of the new academic session for 2024-25, it has come to our attention that certain private schools have been violating provisions outlined in the J&K School Education Act 2002. These violations include the unauthorized charging of annual fees, admission fees, and other charges in addition to tuition fees, as well as increasing fees without approval from the Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC).” The circular further states that in accordance with the relevant sections of the J&K School Education Act 2002 (Amended), particularly Sections 20C(3), 20E(1), and 27(2), the following instructions are hereby issued for strict compliance by all private schools: “Private schools must adhere strictly to the provisions outlined in the J&K School Education Act 2002. They are prohibited from charging any fees other than those approved by the Fee Fixation and Private schools are prohibited from charging any fees other than those approved by the Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee. Private schools are forbidden from compelling parents or students to purchase books, uniforms, or stationery from specific shops. Private schools must ensure that changes to student uniforms are not made frequently, promoting consistency and reducing financial burden on parents.” Any private institution found to be in violation of these norms should face appropriate disciplinary action. egulation Committee. Any private institution found to be in violation of these norms should face appropriate disciplinary action. Parents are encouraged to report any instances of rule violations by private schools to the concerned CEO or the Directorate of School Education, Jammu.” “These instructions are issued to uphold the integrity of the educational system and protect the rights of students and parents. All stakeholders are urged to cooperate in ensuring compliance with these regulations for the betterment of the education sector in Jammu and Kashmir,” it added. |
