Jammu, Mar 31: Unflinching support offered by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Conference (NC) to the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc created a piquant situation for the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir. As both parties are constituents of the INDIA bloc Congress can not offer open support to either of the Kashmir-based regional parties. Highly placed sources said that Congress high command has asked local leaders to maintain a guarded silence on supporting either the PDP or the NC. Important to mention here that three seats of Kashmir Valley are likely to witness “friendly” contests between the PDP and NC but both the parties of constituents of the INDIA bloc. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has already started a campaign for the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat where the NC is also going to field its candidate. Like the Mumbai rally, Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah attended the opposition rally at Ramlila Maidan New Delhi. To keep opposition leaders in good humour, Dr. Congress high command has asked local leaders to maintain silence on supporting either PDP or the NC in Kashmir. Three seats in Kashmir are likely to witness contests between the PDP and NC despite both parties being constituents of the INDIA bloc. Mehbooba Mufti has already started a campaign for the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat where the NC is also going to field its candidate. Like the Mumbai rally, Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah attended the opposition rally at Ramlila Maidan New Delhi. Farooq Abdullah on Sunday emphasized that he will not leave the INDIA bloc till his last breath. Abdullah reiterated that there is a need to make the INDIA bloc stronger for the larger interest of the Constitution of the country. “Today, our primary objective is to safeguard the Constitution of our nation. It's evident that our Constitution is under attack. Even the Chief Justice of India (CJI) is facing threats. This reflects the challenging situation we find ourselves in,” remarked Dr. Farooq Abdullah. Without directly mentioning the BJP, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir highlighted the current trend of inciting discord among people. "Communities are being pitted against each other. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, and individuals of other faiths are being set against one another. It's imperative that we awaken to this reality and raise our voices against this perilous situation. We must recognize the gravity of the situation and vote against those responsible for leading us into this alarming state,” Dr. Farooq emphasized. |
