RS PURA, Apr 12: In a concerted effort to foster electoral literacy and civic engagement, the Government Degree College (GDC), RS PURA, recently orchestrated a thought-provoking event centered around the Screening of a Documentary on the Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign. Collaborating with various educational entities including the Department of Education, NSS, and Viksit Bharat, the Electoral Literacy Club spearheaded this initiative, which aimed to illuminate the significance of voter education and active participation in democratic processes.
Dr. Rajni Bhagat, the esteemed Principal of GDC RS PURA, inaugurated the event with a warm welcome address. Emphasizing the paramount importance of voter awareness, Dr. Bhagat articulated how the documentary served as a conduit for enlightening the audience about the inception, evolution, and commendable achievements of the SVEEP campaign, a groundbreaking endeavor pioneered by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The documentary, meticulously crafted with compelling storytelling and real-life anecdotes, delved into the transformative impact of the SVEEP campaign, illustrating its role in empowering citizens with knowledge and instilling a sense of responsibility towards exercising their voting rights. The event, efficiently coordinated by the dedicated volunteers of the Electoral Literacy Club, was graced by the presence of Ms. Vijeeta Anand, Assistant Professor in Political Science, who delivered an insightful vote of address. The occasion witnessed enthusiastic participation from the entire teaching faculty of GDC RS PURA, underscoring the collective commitment towards nurturing informed and engaged citizens.
Through initiatives like these, GDC RS PURA reaffirms its dedication to fostering a culture of electoral literacy and democratic participation, thereby contributing towards the enrichment of the nation's democratic fabric. This event not only serves as a testament to the college's proactive approach towards societal betterment but also highlights the indispensable role of educational institutions in nurturing responsible and participative citizens.
