The NC and PDP, despite being part of the Opposition’s INDIA bloc, are pitted against each other in all three Lok Sabha seats of Kashmir.
The two parties were also a part of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), which was formed for the restoration of Article 370.
PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti is in direct contest against senior NC leader Mian Altaf, for Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.
He said the fight on the south Kashmir seat is not with the BJP or its B or C teams, but with one of our friends.

The NC Vice President said while the BJP may not directly contest the parliamentary polls in Kashmir, it was supporting parties like the Apni Party and People’s Conference (PC).
“They are contesting. But the only difference is they do not have their party symbol, they are contesting on ‘cricket bat’ (Apni Party’s symbol) and ‘apple’ (PC’s symbol)... We are well aware who the BJP supports here, but they stand no chance of winning,” he added.
