Panchayat Diwas celebrated in National College of Education | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 24: NSS Unit of National College of Education, Purkhoo Camp Domana, Jammu organized a group discussion to celebrate National Panchayat Raj Day on the topic "Building a new India through Panchayat Raj" under supervision of Programme officer Yashumati Jamwal. This day is also known as Panchayat Diwas or National local self Government day as well. Balwant Rai Mehta is known as the Father of Panchayat Raj and it was first introduced in our country on 2nd October 1959 in Nagaur District of Rajasthan. The purpose of celebrating the day was to make students and audience more aware about the empowered Panchayati Raj institutions of our country to build a strong nation and also set a unique example for other countries due to their epoch making role in this world's largest democracy. Panchayat plays a significant role in building democracy at the grass root level which includes construction and maintenance of infrastructure, levying and collecting taxes and executing government schemes for the village. Participants expressed their views regarding the role of Panchayat in making the better democratic setup. Er. Ajay Singh Jamwal (Dean Administration) and the faculty who were present on the occasion were Neetu Sharma, Aneesha Jamwal, Puja Gupta Payal Sethi. |
