Sajjad Lone meets Muzaffar Baig, seeks support to win Bla LS seat | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 24: In a strategic move ahead of the upcoming elections, People's Conference chief and its Baramulla parliamentary constituency candidate, Sajjad Lone, met former deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffar Hussain Baig and sought his support. The meeting took place at the residence of Muzaffar Baig and his wife, Safina Baig, chairperson of the District Development Council (DDC) of Baramulla. During the discussions, Sajjad Lone appealed for their support for the forthcoming LS polls. He also highlighted the significance of their endorsement in the electoral landscape. Taking to social media, Lone expressed his satisfaction at the meeting, underscoring his belief in the democratic prerogative to seek support from influential figures like Muzaffar Baig and Safina Baig. Muzaffar Hussain Baig, a prominent political figure, served as the Deputy Chief Minister of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state from 2005 to 2008 during the coalition government led by Ghulam Nabi Azad. Following the demise of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 2016, Baig assumed the role of patron in the People's Democratic Party (PDP), a position he held until his departure from the party in 2020. Baig's support would brighten prospects of Lone and consolidate his position in Baramulla and Wagoora- Kreeri segments. Baig's support would be a setback to National Conference which is banking on his nephew Javid Baig in Baramulla assembly segment. |
