Awareness cum skill enhancement workshop concludes at GCW Udhampur | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Apr 27: An awareness cum skill enhancement workshop was concluded at Government College for Women(GCW), Udhampur here today. The workshop was organized by the Department of Computer Application for the students of Dogri from 20th April 2024 to 27th April 2024 under the Patronship of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania. The workshop was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Preeti Dubey and coordinated by Rachna Bharti, along with the Head of Department for Dogri, Dr.Sushma Kumari, Shama Rani, and Manju Bala. This workshop was facilitated by the project associates of the Indian Language Machine Translation project, part of the 'National Language Machine Translation (NLTM): BHASHINI' project underway at Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu. Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania, the Principal of the college, expressed her delight and addressed the students and motivating them to contribute to language preservation efforts. She emphasized the importance of language and commended the collaboration between the Computer Application and Dogri departments. She encouraged similar activities for the holistic development of students in the future. The resource persons of the workshop Rakesh Kumar, Sunil Kumar, and Navedika Mishra, enlightened the students about language digitalization, and also demonstrated Hindi typing skills. Earlier, Dr. Preeti Dubey briefed the students on job opportunities in translation and various language preservation initiatives undertaken by the Government of India. The ongoing research projects by the Govt. of India were also discussed and the students were apprised about part time opportunities in these research projects, she added.
