Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 27: In a significant breakthrough, the Government Railway Police (GRP) Jammu has successfully apprehended a long-time fugitive, Kaka Ram alias Harbans Lal, after an elapse of 28 years. Kaka Ram, son of Sh. Basant Ram, hailing from village Bagga Chak, Palli Morh, Tehsil and District Kathua, was arrested by a specially constituted team of GRP in ward No. 3 Tanda Urmar Tehsil, Tanda District, Hoshiarpur, Punjab. He was found hiding under the guise of a new identity, Kabal Singh, son of Harbans Lal, from Kotli Jand Tehsil, Tanda District, Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The arrest of Kaka Ram comes in connection with a case filed under FIR No. 01/1996, under sections 379/34 RPC, registered at P/S GRP Kathua. Having evaded arrest for nearly three decades, Kaka Ram was finally tracked down and apprehended following a relentless pursuit by GRP from the neighboring state of Punjab. Today, the apprehended fugitive was presented before the Hon'ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua and subsequently remanded to District Jail Kathua as per the court's order. This recent success marks the sixth warrant executed under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC) by GRP Jammu within a span of five weeks. The consistent efforts of the GRP underscore their commitment to apprehending wanted criminals and upholding the rule of law. |
