Kishtwar, May 10: In a significant development for India’s power sector, Shri Pankaj Agarwal, IAS, Secretary (Power), Government of India, accompanied by Shri R P Goyal, CMD, NHPC Ltd., and Shri R K Chaudhary, Director (Technical), NHPC Ltd., undertook a comprehensive inspection of hydropower projects in Kishtwar from May 8th to May 9th, 2024. Their visit commenced with a warm welcome extended by Shri Suresh Kumar, General Manager (In-charge) of Dulhasti Power Station, who greeted the dignitaries with traditional shawls and bouquets. The delegation then proceeded to the Power House, where they observed all three units running at rated capacity. During their tour, Secretary Power, Shri Agarwal, directed the Power House staff to prioritize forthcoming maintenance activities to avert forced outages, especially during peak generation seasons. Additionally, discussions were held regarding the ongoing activities of the Dulhasti Stage-II Project. A pivotal meeting was convened in the presence of key officials, including Sh. Suprakash Adhikari, ED, RO, Jammu, and Sh. Ramesh Mukhiya, MD CVPP(P)L, where Shri Suresh Kumar presented detailed updates on various works related to the Power House, Dam, and township of Dulhasti Power Station. On the second day of their visit, the dignitaries participated in a tree planting initiative at Chenab Bhavan and engaged in discussions with trade union members to address pertinent issues. Secretary Power, Shri Agarwal, urged everyone to redouble their efforts to enhance electricity generation and propel the corporation towards unprecedented success. The delegation also visited Dul Dam, where Secretary Power emphasized the importance of emergency preparedness, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming monsoon season. Directives were issued to the Power Station staff to enhance vigilance for dam operations during this period. Dr. Dipankar Deb, General Manager, along with Shri K.V. Sivakumar, General Manager, and all officers and employees of Dulhasti Power Station, were present during the inspection, demonstrating a collective commitment to ensuring the efficiency and reliability of India’s hydropower infrastructure. This visit underscores the government’s proactive approach towards enhancing the nation’s energy security and promoting sustainable development through robust hydropower initiatives. |
