SMVDU School of Mechanical Engineering hosts weeklong 3D printing training | | | Early Times Report KATRA, May 21: The School of Mechanical Engineering at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) recently hosted a comprehensive weeklong training program on 3D printing. The event, led by Shane from Adroitec Information Systems Pvt. Ltd., featured a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on sessions utilizing the newly established 3D printing facility at the school. The training saw enthusiastic participation from students, scholars, staff, and faculty members. It covered fundamental aspects of 3D printing technology, offering attendees an opportunity to gain valuable insights and practical skills in this cutting-edge field. Dr. Yatheshth Anand, Head of the School of Mechanical Engineering, expressed his appreciation for the diligent efforts of the staff and faculty in organizing the event. He also extended his gratitude to Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, and the university administration for their unwavering support in developing the state-of-the-art 3D printing facility. In a move to stay at the forefront of technological advancements, the School of Mechanical Engineering at SMVDU is set to offer a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with Honors and a Minor specialization in 3D Printing, as well as an M.Tech. in Smart Manufacturing (Mechanical Engineering) starting from the academic year 2024-25. The training program was coordinated by Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, Assistant Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering. Looking ahead, the school plans to organize more such events to benefit students and professionals in the region. This initiative highlights SMVDU's commitment to providing its students and faculty with advanced educational resources and opportunities, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in engineering education. |
