Jammu, May 28: As Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar in his two back-to-back statements made it clear that the maiden assembly elections will be held very soon in J&K, the BJP has started the preperations for the coming polls. A day after completion of polling on all the five Parliamentary seats of J&K, local BJP leadership has asked to pull up the socks for assembly polls in the Union Territory. The J&K unit BJP is confident of retaining both the Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province and party is admitting there is tough fight on the lone Parliamentary seat of Ladakh. Sources said on the directions of the central leadership BJP leadership has already started process to prepare panels of three potential candidates of each assembly segments in J&K. Sources said that apart from Hindu majority seats of Jammu province, BJP is also hoping to get maximum support of Pahari speaking people in Kashmir province so the party would be in a position to get majority on its own. A private agency had conducting a survey of the performance of ex-legislators of BJP some of them had served as ministers in the previous PDP-BJP coalition regime in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. The computerized survey was conducted to rate the outcome of the steps taken by BJP led NDA government at the Centre especially after the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Highly placed sources said that BJP had hired some private agencies to conduct an internal survey to get feedback about potential candidates of the party. Reports said that the party got the report card of its former MLA and MLCs prior to the polls. It is said that the tickets would be allotted or avoided to the ex-legislators based on their assessment reports. The assessment of the ex-legislators, which was being done with utmost secrecy, will also consider their conduct in public, apart from their own constituency. |
