Jammu police foil bovine smuggling attempt, rescue 26 bovines | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 1: In a determined effort under Operation Kamadhenu, the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) successfully thwarted a bovine smuggling bid in the Sub-Division Nagrota, District Jammu. The police team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station rescued 26 bovines from the Nandni area. Acting on a tip-off received at approximately 12:30 PM regarding the smuggling activity, the police swiftly mobilized and intercepted the group of smugglers who were attempting to transport the bovines on foot towards the Kashmir Valley. The smugglers, upon seeing the approaching police team, fled the scene, abandoning the animals. A case has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station (FIR No. 135/2024) under relevant sections of the law. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing smugglers. The general public has lauded the continuous and stringent actions taken by the police against bovine smuggling, reflecting the community's support for law enforcement's efforts to curb illegal activities in the region. |
