SRS appeals LG to blacktopping Raj Bhawan to Nagrota Road | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 1: President Shri Ram Sena, Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, Rajiv Mahajan and the local community to bring to immediate attention to LG administration the dire need for blacktopping the road stretch from Raj Bhawan Jammu to the Old National Highway up to the Nagrota Check Post. This road is a important route for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, which witnesses thousands of pilgrims daily. The existing condition of this road is deplorable, characterized by numerous potholes and uneven surfaces that pose severe safety risks to commuters and pilgrims, Rajiv Mahajan said adding that large and numerous potholes make driving hazardous, leading to increased chances of accidents, especially for two-wheeler riders and pilgrims on foot. He added that the road’s unevenness causes vehicles to swerve unpredictably, further endangering the lives of those traveling on it. “Inadequate drainage along the road leads to water accumulation during rains, exacerbating the road’s poor condition and making it slippery and treacherous,” Rajiv Mahajan said. As the commencement of the Amarnath Yatra is imminent, it is crucial to ensure that this route is in optimal condition to facilitate smooth and safe travel for all. Given the urgency of the situation, Rajiv Mahajan said, “We earnestly request prompt action of LG administration in initiating and completing the blacktopping work on this stretch of road before the Yatra begins. Timely completion of this work will not only enhance the safety of the pilgrims but also improve the overall traffic situation in the area, benefiting both residents and visitors.” “A well-maintained road will drastically reduce the risk of accidents and injuries, ensuring a safer journey for all travelers,” Rajiv Mahajan said and expressed hope for swift and favourable response of LG administration to this urgent matter. |
