Early Times Report JAMMU, June 4: After a hiatus of a few weeks, Tawi Trekkers J&K, the premier trekking organization of Jammu & Kashmir, resumed its Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme today. A group of 44 students, including 34 girls from St. Xavier Senior Secondary School, Barnai, Jammu, set off for Dharamshala to participate in this prestigious adventure activity. The group is being led by Shawetica Khajuria, President of Tawi Trekkers, and Vikas Singh, a senior member of the organization. The team also includes two teachers from the school, Sukanshi Sharma and Bharti Dubey. During their stay in the Dharamshala area, the trekkers will explore several notable locations. Their itinerary includes visits to Mcleodganj, Chamunda, the Dalai Lama Temple (headquarters of the Tibetan Government in exile), Bhagshunag Waterfall, Dharamkot (popularly known as mini Israel), Gallu Temple, the picturesque Dharamshala Stadium, Norbulinga Monastery, and Tapovan. Additionally, they will visit the Nagini Devi temple on their return journey to Jammu. A highlight of the programme is a visit to a sprawling tea garden and a tea manufacturing company, where the students will learn about the complete process of tea production. The group was flagged off by Mridhu Padha, Vice Principal of St. Xavier Senior Secondary School, Jammu, in the presence of Shawetica Khajuria, the staff of the school, and a large number of parents of the participants. The next group, comprising students from Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, will leave for the trek on June 9, followed by groups from The Shri Ram Universal School, Government College for Women Parade, Jammu, Aryan Oriental Convent Higher Secondary School, Udhampur, and other institutions. |
