Fostering leadership excellence: IIM Jammu inaugurates second batch of Nurturing Future Leadership Program | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 10: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu proudly inaugurated the second batch of the Nurturing Future Leadership Program under the aegis of "The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme," an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The inaugural session took place at IIM Jammu's permanent campus in Jagti on June 10, 2024. This unique residential program aims to develop the leadership skills of educators at various levels, creating a pool of potential leaders for generational transition. Conducted by the esteemed faculty of IIM Jammu from June 10-14, 2024, the program focuses on enabling institute administration to assess the leadership qualities of their faculty members. The second batch consists of 29 participants from institutes across India and is fully funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, presided over the inaugural ceremony. In his address, Prof. Sahay emphasized IIM Jammu's distinguished contribution as a premier management institution in the country. He encouraged participants to actively engage in the program, foster connections with fellow educators and IIM Jammu faculty, and reiterated the institute's commitment to excellence and innovation in education. He remarked on the significant milestone this day represents in their journey towards educational excellence and leadership development. Highlighting the acute shortage of leadership in academia, he reiterated that teaching is a noble profession with a profound impact on students' lives. He urged participants to enjoy their stay, explore the state-of-the-art "Nalanda" library at IIM Jammu, and wished them a pleasant stay on the campus. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp and a welcome address by Dr. Apurva, Program Director at IIM Jammu. Dr. Apurva extended a heartfelt welcome, highlighting the program's unique features and structure, and expressed his happiness at the launch of the Nurturing Future Leadership Program. He emphasized the program's essential role in developing the next generation of academic leaders, aiming to equip faculty with the leadership skills needed to excel in their academic journey and create effective learning environments for their students. Participants provided formal introductions, sharing details about themselves, their domains, and their respective institutes. Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Chairperson of Executive Education & Consulting (EE&C) at IIM Jammu, shared the institute's unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality executive education through leadership training and development programs. He highlighted the program's features and IIM Jammu's role in creating educational leaders through such initiatives. Also present on the occasion were Dr. Kapil Manohar Ghumte and Dr. Guangpuanang Kahmei, Program Directors at IIM Jammu. The residential training program will be divided into four broad themes: leadership, communication, skill development, and recent government initiatives. It will feature four sessions each day for the next five days, including lectures, interactive workshops, group discussions, case studies, role-plays, and practical exercises to ensure active engagement and application of concepts. Participants will also have the opportunity to network with prominent experts and IIM Jammu faculty. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Naveen Goyal, Program Director at IIM Jammu. The inaugural program culminated with the National Anthem, filling the room with a sense of unity and pride. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the state-of-the-art "Nalanda" library at IIM Jammu, where they explored its extensive resources and innovative facilities. |
