Early Times Report JAMMU, June 10: The Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Dogri Department of the University of Jammu, organized a day-long symposium on "Trends in Dogri Free Verse Poetry" at the Gian Chand Memorial Hall, Jammu University. The event was presided over by the eminent writer and Sahitya Akademi awardee, Darshan Darshi. Professor Sucheta Pathania, Head of the Department of Dogri, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The symposium commenced with a keynote address delivered by Prakash Premi, a distinguished Dogri writer and scholar. The welcome address and introductory remarks were presented by Mohan Singh, convener of the Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, and Padmashree awardee. Professor Sushma Sharma from the Department of Dogri, Jammu University, offered the vote of thanks. The symposium featured two sessions, each chaired by prominent figures in the field of Dogri literature. In the inaugural session, chaired by eminent writer Inderjeet Kesar, Puran Chander Sharma presented a paper on the trends in Dogri free verse poetry from 1980 to 1990. This was followed by Shivdev Sushil, who discussed the trends from 1990 to 2000. The second session, chaired by writer and scholar Dhian Singh, included a presentation by Ashok Khajuria on the trends in Dogri free verse poetry from 2000 to 2010. The final paper, presented by Khajur Singh Thakur, explored the trends from 2010 to 2020. The symposium provided an in-depth discussion on the evolving trends in Dogri free verse poetry. All presented papers were highly appreciated by the audience, which included writers, scholars, and students. It was noted that Dogri free verse poetry is gaining recognition on both national and international platforms. The event was hailed as a resounding success, drawing a large number of attendees and fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas within the Dogri literary community. |
