JAMMU, June 10 : Ajay Kumar Sadhotra Additional General Secretary and former minister of J&K National Conference today criticized the present dispensation for its failure to propel J&K’s industrial sector into a trajectory of sustained growth. Interacting with the newly nominated of office bearers of Party’s Traders and Industries JKNC Wing at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta Provincial President Jammu Province rasied serious concern over the stagnant industrial landscape in the Union Territory, highlighting the lack of effective policies and initiatives to stimulate economic development with the aim to making J&K an industrial hub.
Ajay Sadhotra Additional General Secretary and former minister asserted that except rhetoric the government has nothing for the people of J&K as record of setting up new industry in the last nearly ten years remained dismal whereas the party in power has changed scenario of industries in the states ruled by it like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, etc. He said as far as the dispensation here is concerned, it has expertise in only signing the MoUs worth crores of rupees and making colossal promises but on ground the situation is dwindling with industry either running on crutches or ventilators as no one from the ruling side seems to be serious about bringing a meaningful change on ground.
Rattan Lal Gupta Provincial President Jammu Province threw light on the problems being faced by the traders of Jammu region. He sought reimbursement of 5% as Financial Support to industrial Sector on the Sale Value of Goods sold within of Union Territory of J&K to exiting Industry, reimbursement of 100% Road Freight to Industrial Sector on Raw Materials/Finished Goods within the UT/from outside the State by road, Issue of notification in respect of duty draw back incentive under export obligation with retrospective effect, Existing State/Central Package of Incentives should be continued for the Existing Industry enabling the existing Industrial sector to compete with stiff completion from outside UT due to abolish of Toll Tax across the UT as early as possible in time bound manner, refund of GST, unfortunately the government has not taken adequate measures to support and enhance the industrial sector in J&K, resulting in today the industrial sestor of both Jammu and Kashmir regions are on verge of closure,” he added
Gupta assured that a comprehensive reforms to revive the industrial sector by resolving the aforesaid issues on priority basis and to implement strategies that foster investment, innovation, and infrastructure development if National Conference voted in power in forthcoming Assembly election.
