SKUAST becomes first Agricultural University to have Directorate of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, School of One Health | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 12: 70th Meeting of Board of Management of SKUAST-K held on 11.06.2034 at Shalimar Campus approved establishment of several new centres, School of One Health, Directorate of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and a series of Innovative undergraduate postgraduate and doctoral degree programmes. The Board of Management one of the top statuary bodies of university is enshrined with the responsibility to recommend to the Govt. adoption of programmes. and policies that it considers necessary for betterment and promotion of agriculture. 70th BoM held under the Chairmanship of Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K, Prof. Nazir A. Ganai was attended by Shri Santosh D Vaidya Principal Secretary to Govt., Finance Department, G.A. Sofi, Secretary Technical, APD, Shri. Fayaz Ahmad Lone DG Codes Finance Deptt, representing the Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir; Dr. Tej Pratap former Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, GBPUAT, Pantnagar and CSK- HPKVV Palampur and Dr. V. K. Taneja Former DDG (AS) & VC GADVASU in capacity of a prominent Agriculture & Veterinary scientist respectively, Dr. Dr.Ravishankar C N, Director, ICAR-CIFE, representing Indian Council for Agricultural Research and Dr. B.N. Tripathi Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu. Besides Director of Education and Director of Research and Registrar SKUAST-K; and Progressive farmer and agro industrialist also attended the meeting. The Board approved establishment of Directorate of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, School of One Health, Division of Community Science and Division of Poultry Sciences. Several new programmes like B. Tech in Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture, B. Tech Bio-technology, BSc Bio-Chemistry, BSc Microbiology and BSc Economics and Data Science were also approved. With this SKUAST-Kashmir now has 13 UG programmes and has become the first university to have a School of One Health and a Directorate of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Several new masters programmes like MBA with specialization in Agri-business, Marketing, Finance & Agri-tourism; M. Tech in Renewable Energy Engineering, MFSc in Fishing Technology and Engineering, M. Sc. Agricultural Chemicals and Ph. D. programmes in Fish biotechnology, Farm machinery and Power Engineering, Agribusiness Management and Wildlife Science were also approved. The Board also approved several academic financial and administrative reforms and ratified the recommendations of selection committee for placements/promotions of faculty under Career Advancement Scheme as well as direct selection. |
