Early Times Report

Jammu, June 12: An audio that has gone viral on social media reflects the alertness and bravery of a villager of Saida Sukhal of Hiranagar who not only saved his kids from the wrath of terrorists but also timely informed the forces about the exact location of the two terrorists who stormed into his house.
“I have locked myself along with my kids inside a room. Two terrorists were earlier sitting on the premises of my house on a cot. Now they appeared to the roaming the village”, the brave villager told others on the phone.
Without fearing terrorists, who were roaming near his house, the villager shared his number and asked the police to contact him to get the exact location of the terrorists.
It was all due to the alertness of such villagers that a big tragedy was averted and the attempt of the terrorists to take some people hostage was foiled.
The incident unfolded when an alert villager noticed two terrorists on the premises of his house.
He promptly informed the police, locking himself and his children in a room. The terrorists, disguised in Army uniforms, had requested water from a woman, raising her suspicions due to the rifles they carried. The vigilant woman immediately raised an alarm, prompting indiscriminate firing by the terrorists.
As the sound of gunfire echoed, residents sought refuge in their homes. Unfortunately, one person, Onkar, was injured during the attack.
Eyewitness Ashwani Kumar recounted how he recognized the terrorists by their AK-47 rifles and their Hindi conversation. The village erupted in panic, and the police were alerted, leading to the intense encounter.
In a dramatic 15-hour-long encounter near Kootah Morh in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, local villagers played a crucial role in preventing a major tragedy. The operation resulted in the elimination of the second terrorist, but not without sacrifice—the life of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was lost in the line of duty.
