BLSKS celebrates “World Day Against Child Labour” | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 12: To celebrate the "World Day Against Child Labour 2024" & to promote the Folk Culture of J&K & Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan in coordination with Sangam Tru Art production presented its 433rd Regular series musical play "BAL MAJDOORI" at Open Air Theatre Durga Bhawan Janipur, Jammu, the theme for World Day Against Child Labour 2024 is "Let's act on our commitments: End Child Labour" observed annually on June 12, the World Day Against Child Labour is a significant global event aimed at raising awareness and mobilising efforts to end child labour in all its forms. The Program was inaugurated by Chief Guest V.K. Magotra, former Regional Director of Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, J.K. Raina, Producer, Director Films & Mukesh Singh Media Person were guest of honors. This day commemorated with sole aim of rejuvenating the traditional, Primitive Folk, Art, Culture of J&K Region in particular and Indian nation in general awareness items. Specially prepared on the theme of like "Bal Majdori", "Bacho se Majdori mat karwayo", "Apna Kam Khud Karo", Apun Jago Duen jagao", Skits , Songs and Dances were presented to aware the masses & the music was composed by Music Director Sh.Mahesh Kotwal. The Chief Guest said child labour refers to the employment of children in activities that hinder their physical and mental development, depriving them of basic education and recreational needs. Most childhood labour is a result of unawareness among parents. Traffickers mostly target children of such parents who are illiterate and such children end up being in the pithole of child labour and lauded the efforts of the organizers in making such awareness programmes colorful and effective through the children of music and computer institutions. Dogra, Chairman, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan said child labour first started to occur in England when household businesses were turned into local labour markets that mass-produced the once homemade goods. Dogra also said Child Labour is a serious offence, if any person who employs a child below 14 or a child between 14 and 18 in a hazardous occupation or process can be punished with jail time of between six months and two years and/or fine between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 50,000. Because children often helped produce the goods out of their homes, working in a factory to make those same goods was a simple change for many of these youths. Child Labour refers to the employment of children aged 5 to 17 years to deprive them of their childhood and force them into a life of deprivation and illiteracy. The main factor behind child labour is poverty; therefore, it is more rampant in developing or underdeveloped countries. Child Labour is work performed by a child that is likely to interfere with his or her right to education, or to be harmful to their health or physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social development. All work done by children under the age of 15 and dangerous work done by children under the age of 18 is illegal. Here are a few tips for helping end child labor are Educate yourself. Contact retail stores, manufacturers, and importers. Buy fair trade and sweatshop-free products whenever possible. Grow more of your own food. Share your time and money. Contact local, regional, and national legislators. Dogra also said the Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan presenting more than 200 awareness programs this year through folk media in the far flung Villages of Jammu Province will be covered. The singers, musician and actors who performed were Usha Raina, K K Joshi , Kuldeep Raj, Zulekha Bano, Naiya Digra, Renu Bala presented the enthralled performance. Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program. |
