PALAMPUR, June 13: Two dedicated NCC Cadets from Dewan Devi Public School, Priyanshi and Prachi Sharma, recently returned from the All India Girls Trekking Expedition 2024, which took place from June 5 to June 12. The event, hosted by 5 HP(1) COY NCC Dharamshala, saw enthusiastic participation from cadets representing seven directorates, including JK&L, Rajasthan, UP, Uttarakhand, PHHP & Chandigarh, and Punjab.
The cadets embarked on a journey through diverse and picturesque landscapes, including the Sidh Baba Trek, Tashiyoung Monastery, Indo-German Farm, Panchrukhi Railway Station, Mcleodganj, Subhash Hydro Project, and Indru Nath Temple. Each location provided an ethereal experience, allowing the cadets to gain firsthand knowledge of the topography, culture, heritage, language, and weather conditions of Palampur.
One of the highlights of the expedition was a folk presentation competition, where the JK&L directorate secured the second position in the cultural program. Cadets from all seven directorates showcased their unique cultures and heritage, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange. The event facilitated interaction among the cadets, fostering an environment where discipline and fun coexisted harmoniously.
The trekking camp was a well-rounded experience, promoting the overall development of the cadets. Activities focused on comradeship, discipline, and teamwork, while also covering subjects like wilderness survival, adventure training, and the unity in diversity of Indian cultures and languages.
The success of the camp was evident in the outstanding performance of each cadet. Mrs. Seloni Suri, Principal of Dewan Devi Public School, and ANO Sarika extended their heartfelt congratulations to Priyanshi and Prachi Sharma, wishing them a bright future ahead.
This expedition not only provided the cadets with valuable experiences and memories but also highlighted the spirit of unity and cultural exchange that is integral to the NCC program.
