Police to start verification of non-locals living near IB | Hiranagar Encounter Aftermath | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 13: As Additional Director General (ADG) Jammu Zone Anand Jain has confirmed that terrorists killed in the Hiranagar encounter were fresh infiltrators, authorities have directed border dwellers to conduct CID verifications of all non-locals and agricultural labourers living all along the International Border in Kathua and Samba districts. Although the order to conduct CID verification was issued in the month of May, local officers have not taken it seriously so a fresh order has been issued. All the owners have given land to nomads and non-local agricultural workers have been directed to immediately conduct CID verification of their tenants. Sources said that initial investigations suggested that terrorists killed in the Hiranagar encounter had infiltrated from the International Border recently and were on their way to Udhampur and Doda areas. “It is believed that some locals have provided logistics and other supporters to the terrorists who managed to reach safely in village Saida Sohal near Kootha Morh from the International Border”, sources said and added that security agencies have started the campaign to identify those supporters of terrorists. Meanwhile, authorities have ordered that no person or group is permitted to move within 1.0 km of the International Border from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. In cases of necessary movement, individuals must present their ID cards to BSF or Police authorities. Any violation of this order will result in legal action. This directive is issued ex-parte and will remain in effect for sixty days unless rescinded earlier. Additionally, it is also mandated that all landlords, landowners, property owners, business owners, attorneys, and persons in charge of properties must disclose details of outsiders working in industries, construction companies, business establishments, domestic helpers, and tenants (both commercial and agricultural) after proper police verification. Owners are required to submit a prescribed Declaration Form, signed by both the owner and tenant, to the concerned Police Station within ten days of letting, sub-letting, or renting out their premises. This applies to new arrangements and existing ones made before this order. The same requirement extends to those allowing Jhuggis (makeshift shelters) on their land. Each Station House Officer (SHO) will verify the details of these outsiders and maintain a separate register for this purpose. Tehsildars, through Lambardars, Chowkiddars, and PRI members, will disseminate information about this order, especially in border villages. Any person found violating this order will face legal consequences. The Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, is tasked with ensuring the enforcement of this order in its entirety. This order is effective immediately and will remain in force for two months unless withdrawn or rescinded earlier. |
