Jammu, June 18: In the wake of the below-expectation performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the BJP leadership in Jammu and Kashmir has issued a cautionary message to its cadre, emphasizing the need for introspection over the party’s underwhelming performance in its traditional strongholds. The Congress party has made notable gains in these areas, which has raised concerns within the BJP ranks. During a meeting held at the BJP headquarters, party leadership realized that support of the weaker sections especially Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) is dwindling due to the failure of the party workers to reach out to these marganized sections. In the meeting, it was observed that instead of reaching out to these sections, most of the party leaders indulged in cheap publicity by using social media. This comes after the party’s move to grant ST status to Pahari-speaking people in Rajouri and Poonch with hopes of electoral support. Senior leaders urged workers to reflect on their political strategies for improved results in future elections.
