JAMMU, June 25: Under the able guidance of Prof. B.N.Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kash-mir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, a ten-day training on ‘Artificial Intelligence Solutions for Plant Disease and Pest Diagnosis and Management’ begin at Division of Microbiology, FBSc,SKUAST-Jammu for the students of various faculties of the university to improvise their skill and knowledge. Prof. SEH Rizvi, Dean Faculty of Basic Science, SKUAST-Jammu was the chief guest at the inaugural function of this training programme which is being organized under the ambit of NAHEP-IDP Project. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rizvi congratulated members of the organising committee and participants on a successful selection of training course on Artificial Intelligence, providing platform to young students that help them learn new and emerging concepts. He highlighted the importance of AI in agriculture and stressed upon the increasing the water use efficiency, nutrient use efficiency and ultimate input use efficiency and disease and Pest diagnosis using AI based technologies. Dr Rizvi further emphasized about precision agriculture and said that this innovation in agriculture technology uses big data to aid management decisions, enabling farmers to control crop yield variables like moisture level, soil condition, and microclimates to maximize output. Earlier, Dr. Vikas Sharma, Nodal Officer NAHEP-IDP and Course convener welcomed the guests and participating students. Dr. Brajeshwar Singh, Professor and Head Division of Microbiology and Organising Secretary of the training presented a detailed report about the ten days programme. He also informed that about 42 students have registered in this training from across the faculties. Dr. Manish Sharma, Head Statistics and Computer Sciences Dr. Sanjay Gularia, Professor Bio chemistry Dr. Gurudev Chand, Head Plant Physiology, Dr. Sandeep Chopra, Head Vegetable Science, Dr. Moni Gupta, Head, Biochemistry, Dr. Upma Dutta, Assistant Professor, Microbiology and Dr. BK Sinha, Professor Plant Physiology were present during the inaugural session. The proceedings of the inaugural function were conducted by Dr. Anil Bhushan, Professor, Vegetable Science & Co-Coordinator of the training programme. |
