Training Program on Marketing, Business Opportunities for Horticultural Crops Concludes

Jammu, June 25: Under the Patronage of Dr. B.N. Tripathi Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu in collaboration with Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing, Batote, Ramban organized five-days training program on “Marketing and Business Opportunities for Horticultural Crops in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir”.
The program was sponsored by the CCS National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (CCS-NIAM), Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Dr. S. K. Gupta, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu was Chief Guest and Dr. Rajinder Peshin, Director Education, SKUAST-Jammu was Guest of Honour during the valedictory function.
The training program, aimed at enhancing market and business opportunities in the horticultural sector of the union territory, witnessed the active participation of 30 registered individuals representing various stakeholders such as Farmers’ Producer Organizations (FPOs), CEOs of agricultural ventures, progressive farmers and interested individuals of District Ramban. In his address, Dr. S. K. Gupta highlighted the significance of understanding and promoting local crops, emphasizing their health benefits. Dr. Rajinder Peshin sheds light on the marketing and business opportunities available for horticultural crops in the region of Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Student Welfare and Course Director of the training Programme welcomed the gathering and briefed about the training proceedings. As the training concluded, participants expressed anticipation in acquiring invaluable skills and insights to navigate the dynamic landscape of horticulture marketing, thereby contributing to the development of the region. Certificates were also distributed among the participants. Dr. Anil Bhat, Associate Director Research conducted the proceedings of the programme. Dr. Pawan Sharma, Professor, Directorate of Extension presented formal vote of thanks. Dr. Akshay Deep, Mr. Maninder Singh and Mr. Rohit Manhas helped in the smooth conduct of the training programme for five days. Mr. Sunil Bakshi, AMO; Mr. Raju Zuthsi, AGMO and Mr. Jagdeesh, Marketing Inspector were also present during the function.
