Early Times Report JAMMU, June 26: In preparation for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2024), scheduled to commence on June 28, 2024, a crucial meeting was held by SSP Traffic City Jammu at the Conference Hall of District Police Lines, Gandhi Nagar. The meeting aimed to brief all subordinate formations about their duties and deployment during the Yatra. The session was attended by notable officials, including Raj Paul Singh, Addl. SP Traffic City Jammu; Bikram Kumar, I/C SP Traffic City South Jammu; Farha Nishat, Dy. SP Traffic City North Jammu; and other Gazetted Officers (GOs) and Non-Gazetted Officers (NGOs) assigned for special duty during SANJY-2024. During the briefing, key challenges and issues faced by the traffic department during the previous year's Amarnath Yatra were discussed. Officers were instructed to ensure the removal of all obstructions and wrong parkings along the Yatra route to facilitate the smooth movement of Yatra convoys. Strict action was mandated against overloading and overcharging by passenger vehicles, Auto Rickshaws, and E-rickshaws, in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Act and related rules. SSP Traffic emphasized the need for officers and officials to remain extra vigilant and proactive in their duties. The importance of coordination and timely responses to prevent any emergencies was underscored. Additionally, clear directives were issued stating that no vehicles, except emergency vehicles, would be allowed to move on the National Highway (NHW) after the cut-off time. Officers were also reminded to maintain a professional appearance and to interact politely with motorists when stopping vehicles during the cut-off time. |
