Early Times Report
Jammu, July 7: Natrang brought laughter and reflection to its audience with the presentation of the Hindi play ‘Tauba-Tauba’ as part of its weekly ‘Sunday Theatre’ series. Written by Rajinder Kumar Sharma and directed by Neeraj Kant, the play, while humorously highlighting the trials of theatre production, delves into the serious issues of commitment and professionalism in the arts. The narrative unfolds in the home of Anokhe Lal, a dedicated director who has transformed his abode into a rehearsal space. With an impending performance, the comedic turmoil begins as the disinterest and lack of seriousness of the cast members become apparent. Once eager for roles, the actors now present endless excuses to skip rehearsals, causing chaos and frustration for Anokhe Lal. Adding to the director’s woes is the newly appointed servant, whose every entrance brings a new problem, further derailing the rehearsals. Anokhe Lal’s stress intensifies as actors forget lines, arrive late, and disrupt the schedule, all while tickets for the show have already been sold. The pinnacle of the crisis occurs when the actor cast as the father of the hero withdraws due to personal reasons. In desperation, Anokhe Lal coerces his reluctant servant into taking on the role. The situation spirals into hilarity and confusion when Anokhe Lal’s real father arrives, leading to a case of mistaken identity and a comical confrontation. The play’s cast featured talented Natrang actors Mihir Gujral, Aadesh Dhar, Vandana Thakur, Kushal Bhat, Brijesh Avtar Sharma, and Chaitanya Shekhar. Neeraj Kant Sharma skillfully managed the lighting, while Mohd. Yaseen coordinated the event. ‘Tauba-Tauba’ entertained the audience with its blend of humor and insight, exemplifying Natrang’s commitment to both entertain and provoke thought through theatre.
