Early Times Report RS PURA, July 8: An International Conference on Monitoring Biodiversity for Action (ICMBA-2024) was organised by Department of Zoology, University of Kashmir from June 25-27, 2024 under College on Wheels Program (a special initiative by Higher Education) 2023, in which Ms. Gursimar Kour, student of the College gave an oral presentation on her work on Ethnomedicine under the guidance of Dr Ruchika Sharma, Assistant Professor and Head, Dept. of Biotechnology ,GDC (Boys), Kathua. The work highlighted the importance of biodiversity for sustainable living and the urgent need for documentation of rare species of plants before they gets wiped away. For which she got Special Appreciation Award at the conference hosted by Department of Zoology. Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour, worthy Principal of the college applauded the student and the mentor on getting recognition in an International Conference and emphasized that this achievement can draw attention to the research orientation of students and also put forth the need for more platforms like College on Wheels to churn out observers and researchers out of mere Undergraduate Student. She further added that as a Principal, I believe that it is important to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our students. Celebrating achievements not only boosts the confidence of the student but also motivates them to work harder. It is an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of the students and appreciate their hard work. Other faculty members present on the occasion were Dr. Neena Gupta, Dr. Savtanter Kour, Prof. Jugal Kishore, Prof. Sankait Gupta and Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch etc. |
